Passivation of stainless steel using a spray process

Passivation of stainless steel using a spray process has considerable advantages over an immersion process. Borer Chemie AG in Zuchwil has developed a corresponding procedure, which is already being successfully deployed by a range of customers, particularly in the manufacture of surgical instruments. The procedure results in an improved Cr/Fe ratio and CrO/FeO ratio on the substrate surface, and salt spray tests show excellent corrosion resistance.
